Development and manufacture
Development here is strain work and downstream work in equal measure. Our laboratory maintains and improves the production strains, and the pilot fermenters sitting alongside the plant let a change be proven at 500 litres before it goes into a 500 cubic metre vessel. Because we mill the corn ourselves, the glucose feeding the fermenters is a known quantity — that is what keeps batch-to-batch assay steady, rather than inheriting somebody else’s variation in the sugar.
The train runs continuously from steeping through liquefaction and saccharification to fermentation, ion exchange, crystallisation and drying. Feed-grade material is released under FAMI-QS against the customer’s acceptance limits where they have given us any; food-grade lines run under ISO 22000 with separate handling and dedicated packing. Mycelium and corn fibre leave as fertiliser and feed rather than as waste liquor.
Product scope
Feed-grade L-lysine
L-lysine hydrochloride at 98.5% and L-lysine sulphate at 70% lysine, in 25 kg bags and one-tonne jumbo bags.
L-threonine
Feed-grade L-threonine at 98.5%, free flowing and screened to a controlled particle distribution for premix blending.
L-valine
Feed-grade L-valine at 98%, produced on the same train with dedicated downstream equipment to avoid carry-over.
Monosodium glutamate
Food-grade MSG at 99%, crystallised to the mesh size ordered, from 8 to 80 mesh, under ISO 22000 with Halal and Kosher certification.
Lactic acid and lactates
Heat-stable L-lactic acid at 80% and 88% concentration, plus sodium, calcium and potassium lactates for food and industrial use.
Polylactic acid resin
Pure PLA resin polymerised from our own lactide, in injection, extrusion and fibre grades with declared D-isomer content.
Biodegradable compound masterbatches
PLA and PBAT compounds with mineral fillers and processing aids, tuned for film blowing, thermoforming or injection moulding.
Corn starch derivatives
Glucose and maltose syrups, native and modified starches, maltodextrin and corn gluten meal at 60% protein.
